Editorial, Research, Blogging and Outreach Internship Opportunity
Overview
Based on an award-winning technology, VoterWatch enables citizens, journalists, educators, and advocacy organizations to easily and conveniently search and share Congressional and governmental videos. Since our launch in May 2007, we've received high compliments from bloggers, nonprofit advocacy groups and citizen groups eager to use our technology.VoterWatch is looking to fill positions for our editorial internship program. The editorial internship is designed for political science, sociology and journalism majors, as it incorporates in-depth government analysis, journalism and social media. Interns will provide support to VoterWatch's Director of Content and other staff and board members.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: researching and finding newsworthy videos of political issues and candidates, monitoring Congressional committee activity, creating and maintaining a weekly Congressional calendar, and assisting in the generation of content for VoterWatch.org.
Requirements
We are looking for highly motivated students who have an interest in the American political process. In addition to this requirement, we want individuals who have experience or interest in working with social and/or new media. In order to apply for the editorial internship program you must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an American college or university.
If your school offers community work study, you are eligible for an internship stipend. If you do not qualify for community work-study, you must receive college credit for your participation in the program. Prospective interns must also commit at least six months to VoterWatch in order to qualify.
Interns will be expected to work between eight and 20 hours per week, unless other arrangements are discussed and agreed upon. The intern will have a unique opportunity to join the founders and build an organization from the ground up to help us fulfill our public-service mission. Please send your resume and cover letter to Billy Hallowell, Director of Content: billy@voterwatch.org.
